My goal is to personally visit and collate information from 100 New Zealand World War One memorials throughout New Zealand to commemorate the Centenary of World War One and to remember those who paid the ultimate price.

Cromwell Memorial - 12 July 2011
The memorial at Cromwell which stands proudly on the banks of Lake Dunstan was unveiled on the 25 April 1923. Looking more closely at the soldier atop the memorial I was struck by the young looking face, a reminder of how young so many were that fought and gave their lives in WW1.
The memorial was moved to its position today when the valley below which is now Lake Dunstan was flooded after the construction of the Clyde Dam.
